The rapid emergence of robotics in Kerala is set to expand job opportunities, contrary to the common belief that machines replace human labor, according to Minister for Industries, Law, and Coir, Shri. P Rajeeve. Speaking at the landmark Robotics Round Table in Kochi today, the Minister highlighted that as new-age technologies continue to evolve, the rise of allied sectors will create a demand for more recruitments, thereby generating employment.
The event, organized by the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) under the aegis of the Department of Industries and Commerce, saw the inauguration of an exhibition featuring 35 stalls showcasing the latest advancements in robotics. Principal Secretary (Industries and Commerce), Shri. A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish, presided over the ceremony.
In his address, Shri Rajeeve emphasized that the increasing application of robotics in socially beneficial areas in Kerala points to a future where these technologies will play an even more significant role. He also noted that Kerala’s New Industrial Policy (2023) prioritizes the state’s growth as a knowledge economy. “We are focusing on attracting investments into sectors that enhance facilities for the common people, and the progress is evident in the growing number of startups engaged in social development,” he added.
Shri. Hanish reinforced the government’s commitment to supporting startups in the state, particularly through Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centres (IEDCs), which require stronger financial backing to commercialize innovative ideas. “Kerala is actively working to meet the needs of the rapidly advancing robotics sector, providing monetary, social, and administrative support,” he said. KSIDC Managing Director Shri. S. Harikishore remarked that the roundtable is part of a series of initiatives by the government to strengthen ties between Kerala and the innovative technology sector.
The event featured insights from notable figures, including KSIDC Chairman Shri. Paul Antony, Executive Director Shri.
